Disaster Response: A Legacy Forged in Recovery
For over three decades, TSG Construction has been a first-response fixture on the front lines of disaster recovery. We have deployed to 14 major hurricanes, working under immense pressure with FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers. Our journey includes landmark storms like Hurricane Andrew (1992), the unprecedented 2004 season with Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne, Hurricane Katrina (2005), Hurricane Harvey (2017), and Hurricane Ian (2022), giving us unparalleled experience in building for resilience and rapid recovery.
The relentless 2004 season was a pivotal test, demanding rapid, sequential deployments across Central Florida. Managing the complex, cumulative damage from four major storms in quick succession honed our ability to triage crises and execute large-scale recovery operations under the most challenging conditions, further strengthening our partnership with federal response teams.
Following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, our team was on the ground working with USAID. We partnered with a coalition of NGOs on the front lines, collaborating with Samaritan’s Purse, Mission of Hope, Jesus in Haiti, actor Sean Penn’s J/P HRO (Haitian Relief Organization), and CHF International. Our focus was on the grueling, essential work of rubble removal and the restoration of vital infrastructure to help shattered cities begin to recover.
